if this is a goodbye i continue to say?

s&m on 32 will stand after i'm gone, after you.

almost crashed passing the township marker going north.

thought i saw turnip rock but didn't.

wondered if i'd see you & if i did what i'd do

but i didn't. you would've loved me

sunbaked grinning dripping huron everywhere i went.

my braid reaches my waist now you know.

you've never known me with a braid

but i can feel your hands in my hair gathering

what i can't reach. don't all lies come from a place of self

protection? don't be afraid to tell me no.

though i guess you never were. i have to remind myself

how many years i gave you to show me what being loved could feel like.

i am only a sliver lonelier now than then.
