Coconut curry and
Sticky rice
Have healed
Our wounds

We sit cross-legged
on your couch
Drinking wine
and
Singing loud

I’m driving with my father
A flock of birds
I ask him what
all the birds
wonder about
He tells me
All the cars

My best friend
Tells me
She ushered a baby skunk
Out of the street

I keep thinking
about
The woman I saw on the train
She was
putting on blush
In a
pearly compact mirror
And I remember it
Because
Her blush
Matched
Her hair

I think about
the man at the liquor store
Who sold me my
first bottle of rose
He declared
Casual Fridays
were for
Grateful Dead shirts only

My mom says
I think too much
I make a mental note

Write
that
Down
