We ban together and create a giant stone hand. This hand will be our new god. Do you see how easy that was? We used math to construct it. We lifted the hand into the sky. We gave it wisdom; each of us whispering to it at night, the stories of our lives. We cut the ropes and the hand stayed there. Suspended. Floating. Whispering all of our lives at once. When the sun came out, we huddled in the shadow of our hand. We huddled and listened to all of our stories, all of our secrets. Each day the hand lowered. We didn’t notice. We huddled and were living in our pasts. We didn’t notice the hand lowering.
