endless therapy
by jp thorn
i’ll retrieve what is mine, dip into
infinity pools & emerge
lacquered, new veneer slick but
it’s just another indulgent
shame— concealed & carried &
sometimes called
child.
my stare is a billboard that says
come closer, behind it are more
signs: no vacancy, now hiring,
memory! do not enter though
space available, space is a fine line,
grid you occupy painted
cautionary yellow
finch.
i’ll crack my knuckles, crack
the door to our porch, hear
boards crack beneath toes,
they crack as we trip over
sidewalks to spare our
mothers.
